The sign keeps glowing when the power goes.
Exit signs and markings that show in the dark without mains power, cables or batteries, for example on ships, in mines and in engine rooms.

What tritium light does on site
No cabling
The sign is mounted with the supplied bracket. It needs no electrical connection.
No electrical components
The light comes from sealed glass capsules. There are no batteries, circuit boards or bulbs.
Withstands shocks and vibration
There are no electrical parts that vibration can shake apart. Tritium light is used on ships and in engine rooms, among other places.
Marks what must be found
The Adhesive Marker sticks to tools, equipment, doors, walls and light switches and glows around the clock.

How it is used

01 Evacuation in a power cut
Show the way out when the lights go
When the power goes, the lighting goes out, but an exit sign with tritium light keeps glowing. It needs no electrical connection and no batteries, so there is nothing that can stop working in a power cut. The sign shows where the exit is, but does not light the escape route itself.
- Arrow up, down, right or left
- 325 × 175 × 20 mm, about 590 g, ABS plastic
- Supplied with mounting hardware and bracket
- Requires a licence from SSM
- Ask us whether the sign meets the requirements that apply to your site

02 Marking
Find tools, light switches and doors in the dark
A small light source in a tough plastic housing with a strong adhesive mount. It sticks to tools, equipment, doors, walls and light switches and glows around the clock, with no batteries and no charging in light.
- Sticks to most materials
- Shock-resistant and waterproof construction
- Licence: not needed

03 Instruments
Read the bubble in the dark
A spirit level lit by tritium light sources can be read in the dark. It is meant to be built into equipment, where a lamp does not fit or must not be used.

04 Your own designs
Light sources to build in
Tritium light sources come as loose capsules in different shapes, for building into your own equipment: tube, sphere and disc. We also develop light sources and products to your requirements for shape, size, colour and brightness.
- 1.5 x 6 mm light source: below 0.93 GBq, no licence up to 1 GBq in total
- Sphere, Disc and 2.92 x 1.5 x 9 mm: require a licence from SSM
Licences
- Exit signs require a licence from the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority (SSM). We help with the application.
- Marker Medium and Large and the Sphere, Disc and 2.92 x 1.5 x 9 mm light sources also require a licence. The Adhesive Marker needs no licence. For the Spirit level, ask us what applies.
- Spent signs must not go in household waste. Send them to Emitrix for recycling. Contact us first and we book an ADR transport.
Is it dangerous?
No, not in normal use. The beta radiation from tritium is so weak that it is stopped by the glass and does not penetrate the skin. Even if a light source were to break in an accident, it would do no harm, because the gas quickly disperses into the air.
